The Division of Professional Standards has oversight in ensuring that the highest level of emergency service is provided to the City of Cape Coral. This includes training and education, state and professional compliance, hiring and promotions, and professional development.

Greg Markley, Division Chief of Professional Standards
Greg Markley is from Cape Coral and graduated from Mariner High School after which he joined the Marines where he served for 20½ years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. He has an associate degree in Fire Science, a bachelor's in Fire and Emergency Services, and a master’s in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Chief Markley has extensive fire service experience from his time in the Marines. He graduated from the DOD Fire Academy and served as a firefighter throughout his career, becoming the fire chief for two different departments, and concluding his service back at the DOD Fire Academy where he oversaw the Marine fire instructors.
Chief Markley was hired as the Quality Assurance Specialist for the CCFD in November 2023 and promoted to Division Chief in March 2025.
The Division Chief of Professional Standards supervises four Battalion Chiefs and four Lieutenants who are responsible for the Training, Special Operations, and EMS functions of the Department.
