COMMUNITY CPR
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest. The Cape Coral Fire Department offers three different classes: Family and Friends CPR, BLS Provider, and Stop the Bleed.
BLS Provider
This class is for people who take care of patients (healthcare providers) or who are in school to take care of patients (to become healthcare providers).
The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations and complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. Cost is $60.

In this course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life. Cost is $35.
