Below are the answers to some of the Cape Coral Fire Department's most commonly asked questions.
As they are part of a firefighter's uniform, the CCFD does not give away, sell, or trade patches and/or t-shirts.
No. The CCFD does not install car seats. However, you may call Golisano Children's Hospital at (239) 343-5101 to schedule an appointment.
Fire and EMS reports can be obtained by submitting a public records request through the City Clerk's Office.

Please visit the Knox Box website to purchase a unit. Select Cape Coral Fire Department as the local agency and choose either business or residential to obtain the correct model. Please choose a box size that will hold all keys necessary for entry such as door, fire alarm panel, fire sprinkler locks, and any other locks they may be present. Once the Knox Box is installed on the structure, contact Fire Prevention at (239) 242-3264 or fireinspections@capecoral.gov to schedule a Fire Inspector to lock the box.

If you are concerned about an active burn pile, please contact the non-emergency dispatch line at (239) 574-3223 while the fire is burning (we cannot do anything after the fact). A unit may be dispatched to put out the fire if it is considered a nuisance.
If you see an oil slick in a canal or another body of water, please contact the non-emergency dispatch line at (239) 574-3223. Crews will be dispatched to check the area and mitigate as necessary.
Yes. Firefighters will assist in rescuing animals. Please call 911 if an animal is endangering a person and the non-emergency dispatch line at (239) 574-3223 if there is an animal in distress. For assistance with injured wildlife not in need of rescuing, please contact CROW Wildlife Hospital at (239) 472-3644. For concerns about strays or suspected abuse, please contact Lee County Domestic Animal Services at (239) 533-7387.
Yes. Please call the non-emergency dispatch line at (239) 574-3223 with their information, and the operator will dispatch a unit to perform a wellness check.
No. The CCFD cannot hold keys to residential homes. The most secure option is to obtain a Knox Homebox with the door hanger mounting. Visit the Knox Box website to purchase a unit, and select Cape Coral Fire Department as the local agency. Once you have the Knox Box, contact Fire Prevention at (239) 242-3264 or fireinspections@capecoral.gov to schedule a Fire Inspector to lock the box.
Free sharps containers for the disposal of medical needles and syringes are available at every fire station. Empty containers may be picked up and full containers may be dropped off at any station. The Cape Coral Police Department has a drop box in its lobby (1100 Cultural Park Blvd.) for unused/expired medications in pill format (no liquids or needles). Many pharmacies will also dispose of medications.
Through a partnership with the Cape Coral Fire Department Community Foundation and the American Red Cross, the CCFD is proud to offer a free smoke alarm program for homes located in the Cape Coral service area. Visit our Smoke Alarms page for more information.
Only select commercial fire extinguishers are able to be recharged/refilled. This is done through the company that is contracted to maintain the extinguishers. Single use extinguishers, like the ones found in our homes, cannot be recharged/refilled. Before disposing of an empty fire extinguisher, confirm all pressure has been released from the shell. A full fire extinguisher must be taken to Lee County's Topaz Court Solid Waste Facility at 6441 Topaz Court in Fort Myers (for more information please click HERE) or to the City's semi-annual bulk item and household chemical waste collection events (for more information please click HERE).

The CCFD offers FREE Family and Friends CPR classes. This course is ideal for community groups, parents, grandparents, caregivers, schools and students, and others who are interested in learning this life-saving skill but do not need a CPR course completion card. This course is not suitable for those who need CPR certification for a job or other requirement. Additionally, BLS Provider and Stop the Bleed courses are offered in partnership with Florida SouthWestern. For more information and to register, visit our Community CPR page.
Individuals and small family groups (no more than 8 people) are welcome to visit a fire station any day between 9am - 7pm, preferably avoiding mealtimes. Large groups must be scheduled in advance by clicking HERE.

No. The CCFD is unable to accommodate birthday parties at fire stations and does not have availability to send fire trucks to birthday parties. But we wish your child a very happy birthday and invite you to bring just them (and siblings/immediate family) by a station for a visit another time.

An interactive map of all Cape Coral fire hydrants can be found by clicking HERE. Click on "Layer List" (the blue button with what looks like a stack of three papers on it at the bottom of the page) then expand the list under "Cape Coral" and select "Hydrants (Water)." When you zoom in on the map, the hydrants will become visible. You may also contact the 311 Call Center to be directed to a representative in the Utilities Department.
Fire stations are staffed by certified firefighters 24/7. If you stop at a station and no one answers the door, the crew may be on a training exercise or responding to a call. Fire Administration is open Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm, excluding national holidays.
Yes, if you would like to provide a meal for a specific fire station, please contact CCFD headquarters at (239) 574-0501 to make arrangements. Please note, while we appreciate the time and effort and care put into homemade goods, only restaurant or store-bought items are able to be accepted.
No. The CCFD does not accept used stuffed animals. All donated items must be in new condition with tags still attached.
No. The CCFD does not fill swimming pools. There are commercial company options available. If you refill your pool using water from your home, be sure to request a sewer adjustment from the City. Click HERE for more information.
Residents can drop their old American flags in the box located outside of City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd., for proper retirement without having to leave their vehicles. Flags also can be taken to any fire station in the City. The Brotherhood of Heroes Resource Center and Military Museum and the American Legion will also collect retired flags.
